From Darkness to Darshan – Shanti Devi’s Story
For years, Shanti Devi, a 68-year-old Brajwasi mother, lived in complete darkness. What began as mild blurriness slowly turned into total vision loss due to untreated cataracts. With no financial support and limited awareness, treatment always felt out of reach.
Her daily life became a struggle. She could no longer cook safely, walk without assistance, or recognize the faces of her loved ones. But what hurt her the most was something deeply personal—she could no longer see the deities she had devoted her entire life to.
“I used to sit in the temple and just listen to the prayers. I couldn’t see anything,” she recalled.
Through the Let Them See initiative, Shanti Devi was identified during an eye screening camp and received free cataract surgery. The procedure was quick, but the impact was life-changing.
When her bandages were removed, her eyes filled with tears—not from discomfort, but from overwhelming joy.
“I can see Radha Krishna again,” she said with folded hands and a trembling voice.
Today, Shanti Devi lives independently. She cooks, walks confidently, and visits the temple every morning—this time, not just to feel, but to truly see and experience her devotion once again.
